Steve Mould

Steve is a comedian and a science communicator. He has a Masters Degree in Physics from Oxford. He is the science expert for Blue Peter and Five News and is also working with Brook Lapping, presenting films for The European Space Agency.

Steve has appeared at the Newcastle Science Festival and recently performed science demos with Andrea Sella, and took part in Call My Scientific Bluff with Robert Winston, and a Science version of Mock the Week alongside Dara O'Briain at the Cheltenham Science Festival.

Steve kicked off his stand-up career in 2002 and reached the year’s finals of both the BBC New Comedy Awards and Daily Telegraph Comedy Awards. Since then he has become a regular name on the UK comedy circuit as well as performing at Glastonbury and on the BBC New Comedy Awards programme.

As one half of the award-winning Mould & Arrowsmith Comedy duo (finals of the MySpace Trident Comedy Competition), Steve is currently developing ideas with several radio and TV companies. Mould & Arrowsmith will return to Pleasance Edinburgh in summer 2010 with their brand new show, In 3D, following last year’s show Inventions, and 2008’s acclaimed A Sketch in Powerpoint.

Steve has appeared in several commercials including the Vodofone viral campaign, Domino Pizza Sponsored Idents for The Simpsons, My Name Is Earl idents on Channel 4 and Waterstone Christmas Campaign.

Steve's vibrations show includes setting flames alight [External Link], turning cornstarch into chaotic monsters [External Link], and sending a Mexican wave around the room using the power of interference! His other shows cover topics including light, gravity, magnets, maths, and science history and philosophy.

Previous corporate work includes hosting the Chemicals Northwest Awards Ceremony and performing an after-dinner stand-up set, as well as sitting on the judging panel of the BAFTA Kid’s Vote, to compile the shortlist for the one publicly-voted award of the EA British Academy Children's Award.
