Morwenna Banks
Morwenna Banks is an comedy actor, writer and producer.
She first became known for co-writing and appearing in four series of Absolutely, Channel 4¹s cult sketch show (nominated for a British Comedy Award, Writers Guild Award and Golden Rose of Montreux), for which she was twice nominated as Best Female Comedy Performer in The British Comedy Awards.
Morwenna wrote, starred in and co-produced her own thirteen-part sketch show series The Morwenna Banks Show for Five, which was nominated for the 1999 Golden Rose of Montreux Award.
She has subsequently appeared in numerous TV drama and comedy shows, including Skins (Channel 4), Shooting Stars, Bang Bang It’s Reeves and Mortimer 9 (BBC), Little Britain (BBC), The Strangerers (Sky), Modal, Actress, Whatever (Channel 4), Keen Eddie (Fox), Single (ITV), The Thick of It (BBC), Saxondale (BBC), The Abbey (ITV), and Ruddy Hell It’s Harry and Paul (BBC).
Morwenna played the lead in the West End hit show, An Evening With Gary Linekar and in 2002 appeared in the West End in The Vagina Monologues. She featured in Wide Open Spaces, a feature film shot in Dublin, directed by Tom Hall. She has also co-written an animation series for Disney.
Morwenna has also spent much time working in America, first under contract to NBC and Castle Rock and later as a regular cast member and writer for NBC’s hit show Saturday Night Live.
