Mishal Husain
Mishal Husain is a familiar face on BBC1’s prime time Sunday evening News at Ten and to viewers all over the world as main presenter for BBC World News, where she is the host of the flagship Impact Asia. She has a rare ability to connect with and appeal to both UK and international audiences, which makes her perfect for an extensive range of corporate events both within the UK and internationally.
Mishal’s wide-ranging talents have been seen and heard on programmes as diverse as BBC1’s Breakfast, BBC2’s The Culture Show, the BBC interview programme Hardtalk Extra, and Radio 4’s You and Yours. Mishal's three-part documentary series on the life of Mahatma Gandhi for BBC2 aired in October 2009. Her other ventures outside news and current affairs have included being a contender on BBC1’s Celebrity Mastermind, acting as the questioner on BBC2's The Cram, and BBC1's Hardspell and Starspell. She has also been paired up with rescue dog Robson, to compete in BBC2’s Underdogs.
Mishal was born in the UK but grew up in the Middle East. She was educated at Cambridge University, where she read law, and then at the European University Institute in Florence, where she completed a Master’s in human rights law. Her interest in human rights and the law remains in place and she has both judged and hosted the Amnesty International Media Awards. Last year she also chaired the judging panel for the Orange Prize for New Writers, and was named by the Times as one of the five most influential Muslim women in Britain.
Mishal’s corporate work spans the board from interviewing corporate clients, chairing conferences and facilitating seminars, to presenting in-house videos and hosting many large scale awards. Previous corporate clients include Allen & Overy LLP, The British Library, The Law Society, Saïd Business School, Royal Bank of Scotland, Boat International Media, Caspian Publishing (Asian Women of Achievement Awards), the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) and the IEBE (Institute for Education Business Excellence).
