Dom Joly
Dom Joly is an award-winning television comedian.
His first television series, Trigger Happy TV, was a prime-time Friday night hit for four years running on Channel 4, from 2000 – 2004, and went on to be sold in over fifty countries world-wide and win several awards including the Silver Rose of Montreux.
Since then Dom has made TV shows for the BBC, Five and Sky One, including the acclaimed travel series Dom Joly’s Happy Hour.
Dom has directed viral campaigns for Barclays, Tango, Comet and Cadburys Twisted, as well as music videos for Ian Brown and Wig-Wam (Alex James from Blur and Betty Boo).
Dom is a columnist for the Independent and the Independent on Sunday, as well as an award-winning travel writer for the Sunday Times. Before Trigger Happy TV, Dom started his working career as a diplomat for the EU in Prague and a Producer for ITN at Westminster!
He is an author, with his third book, The Dark Tourist – in which he travelled to North Korea, Iran, Chernobyl, Lebanon and Cambodia – being published by Simon and Schuster in 2010.
Dom has filmed a documentary on Tintin for Channel 4; Dom Joly and The Black Island was shown in early 2010. He is currently developing a project that he describes as “Flash-Mobs meet Candid Camera” in the USA.
Dom lives in the Cotswolds and London with his Canadian wife, two kids, two dogs and a cat. In his spare time he is a devout ‘gamer’, a keen scuba diver, a golfer and a political anorak.
Dom is available for a variety of corporate work. From hosting to after-dinner speaking, Dom can add an entertaining and humorous edge to any event. Dom has hosted the glamorous premiere of Modern Warfare 2: Call of Duty in Vue Cinema, Leicester Square, he has guest-presented an award at the prestigious BAFTA Video Games Awards, and he has featured on the panel of the live Sky Movies Debate: Which is The Best Batman Movie?.
