Natasha Kaplinsky
Natasha Kaplinsky is one of television's best-loved broadcasters and joined Five News in January 2008.
Before her role at Five she was at the BBC for five years, where she became one of the Corporation’s best-known faces. She co-presented Breakfast with Dermot Murnaghan in a daily three-hour live show combining news, current affairs and softer items, where she developed a reputation for incisive interviewing with a gentle touch where necessary. She then moved on to co-present the Six O’clock News for two years.
Alongside her news work, Natasha also enjoys hosting entertainment programmes. Previously she hosted the BBC’s New Year Live, and joined Terry Wogan to co-present Making Your Mind Up, both for BBC1. She presented one of the Proms in the 2006 season for the BBC. She also fronted the BBC's BAFTA red carpet coverage, The VE Day Celebrations with Eamonn Holmes, live from Trafalgar Square in 2005.
In September 2007, Natasha was the subject of one episode of the popular BBC1 television series, Who Do You Think You Are?
Natasha discovered a hidden talent in Spring 2004 when she took part in the peak-time Saturday night programme Strictly Come Dancing, and she went on to win it! She took part in the second series as co-presenter with Bruce Forsyth, and in Summer 2005 she hosted a one-off special, Strictly African Dancing, as part of the BBC’s Africa Lives season.
Natasha lives in London with her husband and their son, Arlo, who was born in September 2008, and daughter, Angelica, who was born in April 2010. She combines her news commitments with a busy schedule of corporate work and guest appearances.
Natasha’s extensive corporate portfolio ranges from large scale awards hosting to conference facilitating, to in-house DVDs. Natasha’s intelligent and professional, yet personal approach makes her an engaging host for a wide range of events. She has previously hosted the AA Hospitality Awards, The Construction Manager Awards, The National Training Awards, and the Raymond Gubbay Christmas Gala Concert; she has also facilitated The Marshall Group Centenary ‘Celebrating Success’ event, and moderated the Innovate Conference for the Government’s Technology Strategy Board.
